2018 has already shown us many internet highs and lows, with social media to thank for the vast popularity and followings of many celebrities.
Time magazine has just released its annual roundup of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet and the list includes Kylie Jenner, Kanye West and President Donald Trump.
Kylie Jenner made the list thanks to a photo she published on Instagram of her daughter Stormi which is the most liked image to ever be posted on Instagram, taking over from Beyoncé’s 2017 pregnancy photo. The celeb holds a lot of influence over social media, when a tweet saying she was: “Sooo over” Snapchat, wiping $1.3bn off of their stock market.
President Trump’s status on Twitter stands at 53 million followers, overstepping Kanye West who stands at having 28 million Twitter followers.
YouTube star brothers Logan and Jake Paul also made the list, with more than 33 million subscribers on YouTube and 21 million on Facebook.
Pop star Rihanna also made the list and is highly influential on social media. Acting as the voice of many women who feel undesired with her beauty and fashion lines and working with Fenty beauty makeup lines through her 63.6 million Instagram followers.
The genius behind the “Yanny” or “Laurel” meme which went viral recently has also made the list! – a guy called Roland Szabo who originally posted it on Reddit.
